i'll never apologize

"here is a trustworthy saying. if anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, able to teach, not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. he must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. if anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?" 1 timothy 3:1-5

i'll never apologize.

i'll never apologize for cutting my phone off on random evenings.
i'll never apologize for choosing to take my wife on a date rather than working on chord charts.
i'll never apologize to talking to my wife and little girl on the phone during my busy day.
i'll never apologize for my weekly twitter/email/blog/facebook breaks.
i'll never apologize for leaving work a little early on a thursday to take my wife to a matinee movie.
i'll never apologize for getting excited every single time my wife sends me texts at work.
i'll never apologize that most of my links and twitpics are either links to cindy's blog or pictures of natalie.
i'll never apologize for leaving my guitar and computer at work most days.
i'll never apologize for choosing to lay in the floor and play with my little girl over hanging out with "the guys."
i'll never apologize for putting my family first.

because after Christ, they are the single most important thing in the universe to me. more than a great job. more than an awesome church. more than my love of leading worship.

i pray that we all, especially men, never apologize for that.

Stephen,
Love your post! So true and something that anyone who works in a church (especially the large ones) needs to hear and understand. I feel the same way that you do. I often leave my guitar and my laptop at my desk, don't answer the phone etc. Great stuff

blessings
